The very thin bathmat was actually kind of cool - IF they had been properly washed and IF they were not there simply to cover up partially removed strips that had been glued (there were remnants of the strip & glue under the mat - no way could we bathe even if we had re-cleaned it ourselves (which I often do, even in 4-star hotels).
