Rooms at Paia are spacious, lovely, and so thoughtfully appointed that it's like staying at a friend's house (for example, in addition to fresh beach towels, they give you a beach bag to use for the week) except that you still like the friend after a week :) The owner is a friendly guy who knocks papayas out of the trees, hands you one, and disappears.

10. All the reviews talk about the excellent breakfasts, the grassy area, beach equipment, etc. No wonder, it's such a different approach than the resorts with their towel cards.
