1. The people who run the hotel were super-nice, very helpful (they booked us an amazing massage and gave us great recommendations for places to go that were not in our guide book, all of them terrific), and it was the perfect place to check out all the amazing parts of Maui, from the road to Hana to the little towns in Upcountry to the Haleakala crater, and also close enough to all the amazing beaches on the West and South sides of the island.

I was able to try a few different rooms as the hotel was sold out on two of the nights I was there, so I had to check out of the hotel before I came back, so I ended up staying both in upstairs rooms and also in one of the one bedroom suites along the side of the hotel that had a very handy kitchen (there is a well stocked market a half a block away).
