1. Besides the smoke smell (which is present in all Vegas hotels), my only issue was with the condition of the room.
2. Stayed hear in 2010, only just got round to writing the review, boy what a place to stay it is fantastic, the smell is lush they have a piped smell of jasmine mixed with something else its just lovely, the place is huge, I got lost loads, our room was huge great big comftable bed, and then you walk done some steps into your lounge and look out this huge picture window, the lounge has a writing desk flat screen fridge everything you would have at home.
3. (Last time our room had a horrible smell and the hotel gave us a hard time about it, unwilling to switch us, until a representative came up to the room - with security, since we were being 'difficult' - only to discover that we were, obviously, not overreacting.
4. Now, The casino floor was a little smokey, but you didn't smell it in the elevators or on the room floor, overall the hotel had a very pleasant smell actually.
5. The ash smell is quite overpowering and its just about impossible to walk from the front desk to your room without smelling like a cigarette for the effort.
6. I do remember a smell in the room kind of like an old lady perfume.
7. Though our room was non-smoking we were able to smell cigarette smoke in the bathroom which lead us to believe that perhaps the floor beneath us wasn't non-smoking and the smell wafted upwards to our room.
8. We unpacked and tried to settle in, but a nauseating smell of cooking (like a fried breakfast) was coming from one of the air vents in the room.
9. Smoky - even though I was in a non-smoking room I could smell smoke.
10. very 'off' smell in hallways and rooms .
11. walking through smoky, crowded casino to get to rooms, sewer back up smell coming from the toliet area.
12. We left the room in the morning and when we returned the stench was worse than the day before, so we called again and this time they changed us to a higher room (better view) without the smell feature.
13. They need other doors that put smells and sounds from the corridor out from the guests room.
14. This is one of the best top hotels in vegas, as always room smell great.
15. Staff were also very pleasant and very helpful (other than we didn't get an upgraded room when I cheekily asked!) when required and had no issues with the smell of perfumes that we had read on other reviews.
16. The rooms have been well designed, but were definitely a bit smelly, of the smell of cigarettes coming from the carpets .
17. The rest of the room smelled fine.
18. We did have to request a room change due to heavy mildew smell in our bathroom, but they quickly moved us and we got a room with a view.
19. It's definitely a value add, but my room in the Venezia seemed to be fading physically - chipping paint/wall paper, stained pillows and carpet, musky smells, etc. (iv) checkout was 11am.
20. My 7th floor non-smoking room smelled of smoke that drifted underneath the door from the hallway.
21. CONS: Rooms that have seen better days, very bad perfume cover smell in casino, Phantom of the Opera and Jersey Boys music playing incessantly (I love both these shows and was actually interested in seeing the revamped shorter version of Phantom but quickly got over this idea after being berraged with Phantom music constantly), mold in bathroom shower stall, no fans in bathroom, no usable fridge in room (very annoying), very dim lighting (to hide the wear and tear?).
22. The smell did not seem to be pumped into the room via the air conditioning which was nice.
23. Overall a nice hotel with nice rooms but over powering smell in the lobby and around the hotel was sometimes unbearable, this did not seem to be the case in other hotels.
24. The stench in the toilet room was unbearable, a smell I can only describe as the smell of rotting flesh, such as a dead rat or mouse, and it was coming from a small vent just below the ceiling.
25. I checked the toilet room, the door was left open and the smell was still present but not as bad, I suspect they just sprayed some air freshener and left the door open.
26. Despite what some other reviewers experienced, everything was spotless, room was gorgeous, bed was comfey, incredibly quiet, no smokey smell.
27. My only complaint was that even though our room was a non-smoking room, by the end of our stay it had started smelling like smoke.
28. We reserved one of their largest suites, a non-smoking room, but when we arrived in the room we smelled smoke.
29. We had a non-smoking room but the fresh/heater air always smell like cigeaette smoke.
30. Rooms are looking old and tired and the beds are old and saggy, burnt out lighbulbs and bad smell of the last guest in the air, bumps and broiken pieces in the room, not kept up at all.
31. To get a room by the parking lot, on the 1st floor and then after a fuss to get a horrible pot smelling room with a business mans bed was about the limit.
32. We got off to a bad start- long lines for the two open registration stations, in front of the 10 un-staffed ones, our non-smoking room smelled like cigarette-smoke-covering product so we moved to another, our door's key reader didn't work and had to be replaced.
33. We headed up to the Venezia Tower and we were very impressed with the lobby on the 10th floor, the Garden Pool, etc. The room was impressive, although, it did smell of smoke, however, we settled in anyway.
34. When I arrived at my room- the placed smelled like an ashtray.
35. Our room didn't smell like that which I'm glad for.
36. Rooms are very clean and spacious, and all the hotel areas smell incredible nice.
37. Based on the room and the smell I would have a hard time giving the Venetian any more than 3 stars, and not even close to the 5 star rating most sites assign to it.
38. After just walking through the casino the smell was so powerful I could actually taste it when I would get to my room.
39. Alongside the beds and the room in general one of the main reasons that we will not be returning to the Venetian to stay is the smell that is pumped out.
40. I think they may even pipe the smell through the ac in the rooms, because I was gagging the whole time.
41. To get to the rooms, you have to walk through the casino which had a really nasty/sweet smell that bothered me the entire duration of our trip.
42. The room is dark and have a musty, dank smell.
43. Although it doesn't meet our expectation, the room at least didn't have a musty smell and a dirty thread bare chair we saw at room 27336.
44. The room smelled awful, and was no concellation for lack of security we felt in the Venetians.
45. As some others have noted, I did detect a faint smoke smell in our non-smoking room.
46. Only one set of soap and shampoo, etc., The toilet room smells like smoke.
47. Luckily our room smelled just fine.
48. Big Nice etc as all Vegas hotel of this category BUT ROOMS ARE DARK (no hub caps etc and other amenities and their soap smells bad) don't book on their web site because they charge you twice and it is a lot arguing effort to make them refund you.
49. And the rooms don't smell at all so don't fret.
50. Luckily, I didn't have the strong smell in my hotel room.
51. I asked at the front desk not to spray down my room anymore with the same scent and was told' if I had ever been to venice I would know that they have flowers everywhere that smell exactly the same'.
52. There were many things which made my stay at the Venetian terrible - food poisoning, arrogant staff, endless lines for service, TV not working properly, tired hotel room furniture, horrible smell throughout the hotel, dishonest housekeeping staff - but the one that topped it off was when I returned to my room after a night out and I found my hotel room door open - not just unlocked, but open to all who walked past it.
53. 10 minutes (Friday night @ 6 pm)*Nice room, REALLY COMFY BEDS!*Room service terribly slow, 2 hours for a bottle of Chapagne*Lobby was but the smell over ruled it*good choice of dining/shopping (again the perfume smell ruins it)*Okay location, but not 'Central" strip.
54. Casino didn't smell like smoke - that was a pleasant surprise, the hotel and room smelled so good.
55. Overall- Fantastic experience, read some reviews that commented on the smell (perfume in hotel main areas), yes it was a bit weird, but you can't smell it in the rooms or corridors, just the casino and canel shopes.
56. And fortunately, we noticed that the smell did not reach up onto the floors where the rooms were.
57. Also, as others commented the smell in the hallways can be strong but our room was fine and there is a long walk to the rooms with multiple elevator rides but once you figure it out, it isn't too bad.
58. It was a bit nauseting but we could not smell it once in our room so that was nice.
59. We were a party of eight and had requested rooms together but were all on different floors, two couples were happy with their suites while one had a non- smoking room smelling of smoke and our room faced the pool restaurant wall.
60. Likes: Needing to show your room key to security before getting to the elevators to the rooms; in-room safe; layout was easy to learn, once you walked it once; casino was well kept and enjoyable; plenty of shopping and restaurants (Grand Lux was wonderful for quick, large, inexpensive meals - run by the same company as the Cheesecake Factory); we didn't mind the floral fragrance, although it was strong at first (can't smell it in the rooms); easy self-parking access; easy strip/'back street' access; overall very secure feel, compared a couple of other places we were.
61. Then my allergies kicked in and I notice the smell of stale cig smoke throughout the room.
62. Re the perfume smell that everyone mentions, yes it is pumped out by the outside doors but was not in my room at all.
63. There are even ashtrays in the hallways upstairs - so therefore our non-smoking room smelled like smoke.
64. Then I couldn't sleep because 1) the room smelled like smoke 2) there was a gurgling sound coming from the bathroom that wouldn't stop 3) Treasure Island kept blowing up every hour and you can plainly hear it from the room and lastly 4) you can hear the doors SLAMMING in the hallway.
65. You will smell it as soon as you walk into the building and all throughout except your room (if you are lucky!).
66. They openly admit they pump a sort of perfume/air freshener into the casino, hallways etc. They *claim* it's not pumped into rooms, but I'm sorry, you can't isolate smells.
67. There was no smell in the hotel room, but the biggest con to the whole Venetian experience was the lavender smell in the lobby and casino areas.
68. When you go into your room you will not smell thissmell, however, you will now smell the cigarette smoke that has embedded itself in your clothes.
69. The room was dark and the lighting all over the place - lamps here and there etc. The smell which I had read about lots is very strong.
70. I noticed a small smell in the room bathroom (something that I read about here, as well), but it wasn't enough to spoil my trip.
71. I noticed a small smell in the room bathroom (something that I read about here, as well), but it wasn`t enough to spoil my trip.
72. Great service, helpful staff, great bed, big room, best smelling hotel on the strip and they have 5000 rooms.
73. Room not clean, casino is terrible, layout is confusing, and the exterior smells very bad.
74. First, it was a nonsmoking room but the previous occupant must have not known that or just did what he wanted because it really was overwhelmingly smoky smelling and I am not someone that is really bothered easily by that.
75. Entire hotel (except the rooms) smelled like bad perfume--something that should definitely be remedied.
76. Upon walking in, I noticed that the room had not been renovated and I was able to smell that lemony spray smell covering up the odor of cigarettes.
77. There was an awful smell in some of the hallways of the hotel, but fortunately not in our room.
78. The hallway leading to our room smelled like a sewer and the pipes in the middle of the night would make very loud gurgling and bubbling noises into our sinks and bath tub.
79. It smelled like eggsalad in a hot room and made me a little sick to my stomach.
80. Fortunately, our room was far enough down the hall that the smell didn`t permeate into our room.
81. However once on the floor and starting down the corridor to our room we came in contact with a really fowl smell that seemed to just linger all the way down the halls and into the room.
82. After putting my foot down and telling them that I wasn`t about to go from waking up that morning in Los Angeles where my backyard smelled like smoke to flying to Vegas and having my hotel room smell like my backyard.
83. The rooms are also impressively large, and full of marble and great smelling soap and shampoos.
84. The room itself was gorgeous and immaculate; it even smelled luxurious.
85. The other annoyance is the very strong smell of room deodorizer that hits you when you walk in the registration area and casinos.
86. It was apparent from the overpowering smell of new paint in our room and the corridor that the floor had just been refurbished.
87. To that end, I was offered room freshener and because the cigarette smoke smell was strongest in the bathroom, it just didn`t cut it.
88. To that end, I was offered room freshener and because the cigarette smoke smell was strongest in the bathroom, it just didn't cut it.
89. At one point we thought we were going to have to request a different room although turning up the air conditioning to full blast reduced the paint smell.
90. The room had been renovated and smelled like fresh paint.
