This was in the older tower of the hotel, and my friend's room in the
newer
King Tower did not have this problem.

Beal Street is accessible via the trolley which stops right outside, but if you're really in town to see the sights you'd be better off staying at one of the numerous and probably
newer
hotels within walking distance.

I have since discovered that there are better rooms in a
newer
part of the hotel, why they continue to put guests in the older/shabbier rooms which will invariabley lead to complaints is beyond me.
