6. Isn't that enough to justify the pretty-much bargain price? If that isn't, then the magnificently comfortable beds, the near-central location (yes, the hills are pretty steep but you can get the cable car, a treat in itself, up to Sutter and walk down to the hotel which is easy walking distance), the beautiful standard to which the hotel is finished, the exemplary staff which a lot of Californian hotels could learn a lot from, the class with which the hotel references its cinematic significance (this is Vertigo, you know, the American Film Institute's 9th greatest film of all time yet it is not thrown in your face all the time- there are not tourists snapping away at all hours).
