1. Our room was clean and generally well-maintained, although decor could use some updating (goodbye carpets and bedspreads), and the fake plants should be eliminated as they were quite dusty.

To most visitors this should be enough (Hey, you are in Hawaii, on island of Kauai, why would you be surfing the net for too long anyway?)The price is quite high if you compare it with hotels in general (Kauai Inn looks like Motel 6 or similar but costs more than a good 4 star hotel in many places in US/Canada) however when compared with other hotels on island of Kauai, Kauai Inn actually offers a very good deal.

5. Very generous but also simple so you didn't feel obligated to stay and chat with other guests unless you wanted to inquire about other possibilities of what to do on the island.

6. The staff at Kauai Inn boasts they are 4th generation inn owners and that they love their guests but they could have cared less that they screwed us out of a room hours before our flight was supposed to leave.

8. Also, since most people would be driving into Lihue in the morning and away from it in the evening, I was able to avoid most rush hour traffic as I would generally be going in the opposite direction both times.

9. My only complaint was that the housekeeping forgot to clean our room one day, and although the facilities are generally clean and nice, it's a pretty old place.
