3. OK, so the hotel halls and our room appeared a bit stark, dingy even, but The Fairmont still held on to its former elegance with the room's chandelier dressed in shining crystal drops, high ceilings, the hotel's attentive doormen, and a wonderful cheery staff.

4. We ate in the Oak Room for dinner and lunch - dinner is very formal and the staff are attentive, but lunch is also worth it for the chateaubriand steak sandwich.
