1. There is no reason to expect anything less from the restaurants or room service.

2. The reason? There's a Starbucks opened in the courtyard across from the hotel, so the hotel is going to let people drink that crap, and do something else with the space.

3. This is not a bad thing for the following reasons:- quiet location, especially on weekends, doesn't feel like a typical downtown/city hotel- minutes (metro or taxi) from Capitol Hill, restaurants, and shops- easy walk to the Mall and Smithsonian museums - one of the closest hotels, in factROOMS: I've stayed in a standard room and a Tai Pan 'club level' room.

4. It feels a little bit remote for some reason (possibly because it's not in a shopping or restaurant disctrict), but it's actually in a great location.

6. Lots of narrow walkways, traffic and construction have to be negotiated to get to a reasonably pleasant section of the waterfront; Starbucks and CVS, which is all that passes for a retail corridor near the hotel, close early on Saturday and are not open on Sunday; when I opened the sheer curtains on the windows, one of the long rods on the bottom of the curtain fell out; the heavy fabric decorative wall hanging above my headboard was partially detached when I entered the room, I restuck the sticky strip onto the bar that it was hanging on.
