Washington DC often seems to be overlooked as a place to visit but apart from being a nice city itself and a delightful place to be, it has staggeringly good museums offering something for everyone that you will not be able to see the like of anywhere else in the world and which will be exciting even for people who say 'I don't do museums'.

3. The hotel is modern and fresh and comfortable to walk into: the foyer is spacious but with enough comfortable seating to make it pleasant to wait in and nice details like the flower arrangements which were worth a look just in themselves and enhanced at night with candles.

4. We especially liked Kramerbooks across the road from the hotel but there are plenty of others and something that the hotel did when we checked in, which was especially helpful, was to give us a list of local bars and restaurants all in walking distance, divided by type - great idea.

8. One thing that I personally did not like was the amount of light that entered the room through the shudders; however, I had to be up early for meetings so it wasn't too annoying.
