1. The problem is this is an OLD hotel and apparently the owners haven't seen fit to invest in a thorough modernization.

Be sure to go to the broken yolk cafe for breakfast only a mile or two away (we ate there 3 times in 6 days in SD) The bigget problem I had with the hotel is location - you aren't really close to any attractions, traffic can be a bear, and everything seemed to take forever to get to - but then again, it was nice to be away from all the tourist attractions and be able to have some quiet evenings at the beach watching the sunset, walk 2 minutes back to the room.
