1. However, by the time I discovered that I'd have to PAY for Internet access, that there was no microwave or refrigerator (without paying for one to be brought to the room), and that there were no snack or drink machines (so that you'll buy from the very expensive minibar in your room), and no free hot breakfasts - and no pool, I was ready for a Hampton Inn or a Holiday Inn Express.

2. But, then it all switched:- Lobby was beautiful - classic but modernized just enough- Check-in was very professional and helpful- I am Marriott preferred and got an upgrade to a suite without asking - very nice- I got a call 5 minutes after I arrived asking if all was OK with the room - very nice- The desk clerk and concierge were friendly to me as I left 10 minutes later for meetings- The doormen (two of them) never again did not open doors everytime I came through them, so I assume the first time there must have been something that required their undivided attentionMy room was expensive, but I was at a conference and the others hotels were full.

4. Only con is that parking is expensive, $49/day, but there are near-by garages that go for $20/day.

6. The room service menu was subpar and very over-priced for what was served (I've stayed in other 5 star hotels with less expensive but great food in room service.

9. Also, whenever I called any of the internal numbers (housekeeping, concierge, etc) the phone was answered immediately - I have been to other, expensive hotels, where I have been annoyed by endless ringing.
