unfortunate
ly, I'd been suckered into pre-paying, so I having them cancel my reservation would at best tie up hundreds of dollars until the problem was resolved, so here I am in my little postage stamp of a room writing this review instead.

unfortunate
ly the bathroom didn't have a tub but the shower made up for it plus more as its a walk in shower and the water can be steaming hot and doesn't run out.

unfortunate
ly, Hurricane Irene threatened to hit NYC Sat or Sun, so our ability to do any sightseeing was thwarted somewhat due to 99% of everything being closed.

We didn't get a chance to sample the rooftop restaurant
unfortunate
ly as it was just closing the one night we wanted to use (about 11pm - maybe it could stay open a bit later?).

We had the
unfortunate
event of water issues which were out of the wyndhams control where there was no water to the entire street for almost 24 hours.

unfortunate
ly it is not down the nicest street in the world but I wouldn't characterize it as unsafe but I could see how a family from some quiet midwestern town might be taken aback if they've never visited NYC before.

As mentioned by other reviewers the hotel is reasonably close to Times Square and other attractions but
unfortunate
ly the area is full of cheap wholesale stores and unattractive buildings and quite depressing to return to after visiting other areas of the city.
"Moderately good hotel in depressing location "
