We had wanted to stay in an art deco hotel, but were leery of high prices and low quality --- South Beach hotels can be the equivalent of NYC hotels: expensive and
shabby

Not very friendly staff, hotel is pretentious - sells itself by the art deco which is nice but it is very
shabby
in parts.

shabby
and the door didn't shut all the way, although it did lock.
