1. unfortunately not, and even after two further engineer visits over the four days the room was still uncomfortably hot in the afternoons when the sun came around.

7. The cordless phone in our room beeped randomly so we ended up unplugging it, but unfortunately one night at around 11:30pm the cordless phone in the unoccupied room next to ours started beeping incessantly and it was impossible not to hear it through the wall.
