The only way to get rid of it was to open the window slightly--in which case traffic
noise
gets in.

And the soundproofing (if any) was totally insufficient to deal with the
noise
from the nearby elevated rail, or even when the guest in the room next door (or maybe above) took a shower or ran water in the sink.

I was on the 14th floor and did hear some street
noise
throughout the night but it may have been that I was awake due to nerves about the test I had to take the next day.

Bathroom was fine, typical 1980`s but immaculate nor did I hear any
noise
from other guests and judging by the complimentary newspapers left along the corridor in the morning, it was a full house that night.
