1. We spent much of our time outside of the hotel grounds to avoid the annoying sounds of circular saws and tile cutting going on throughout the day.

2. Walking through the debris and the workers was a bit of a turn-off which could have been avoided if they had just shut down certain towers of the hotel.

3. From there we easily drove to North Shore early in the monring (avoiding traffic) to enjoy the beaches there, back to the Hotel to get showered, then to Kaapa or Poipu area for dinner in the evening.

4. avoid the nearby Beach Hut, that's written up in one of the Frommer's guides as being really good and cheap.

5. My best advice to anyone looking to stay at Marriott is to avoid it and when on Kauai, go to the Hyatt Regency.

7. The chain appears to be in decline and following this experience I will probably avoid Marriott in general in certainly this property in particular.
