1. In the end I complained to the VIP manager of Luxury suites and happily refunded the first night - still have the horror story though.

2. Spoke to a service attend with LS to complain about hair and he basically told me to 'get over it, it's not that bad, it wont kill you it's just a little hair'.

3. In fairness, we didn't complain because we were only going to be sleeping there but it would have been nice to have them tell us that they couldn't honor our requests when we checked in.

4. My advice is complain early and they will upgrade you for free, but be nice when you complain or they will know you have no aloha spirit and then send you to Pele for Haole scraps.
