1. The hotel is not on the beach, which was a plus for us as we avoided much noise & foot traffic as a result, but is within moderate walking distance.

2. Hint 1: I was told by a local to avoid Waikiki and Ala Moana Beach after heavy rains because all of the street runoff drains into the Ala Wai Canal which in turn empties into the ocean right between the two beaches.

3. It's also located on the west end of Waikiki closer to Ala Moana shopping center, so you can somewhat avoid the Waikiki traffic.

4. Overall, great time there and exploring oahu-- staying in the marina allowed us to be close to waikiki if we wanted (for dinner etc) but mostly we avoided the crowds and drove to other areas.

5. The Ala Moana Park/Beach and the Hilton beach are a quick 5 minute stroll if you want to avoid crowds.
