In short, this may not be the cheapest hotel in town but we got a good
deal
off a late booking website for the first few days and then through the hotel themselves after that.
"If you stay anywhere else in San Diego, you're short changing yourself! "

(off their website or otherwise) or if cost isn't a major concern, then you should be very happy with Solamar.

All in all, a solid 5 stars, a GREAT
deal
for the money, and you can't beat the downtown location -- just steps from the Padres field and The Mission (one of the best breakfasts in town).
