1. Pros: Perhaps the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in - soft, but supportive; The decor (in the room and hotel) is very modern; An amazing number of electrical outlets, which is such a pleasure (usually I have to crawl under desks or unplug lamps); The windows actually open to get fresh air!; Lots of mirrors; The location is great - just a block from the Gaslight District, and a few blocks from the Convention Center; The pool has a very cool vibe, and you can borrow towels to take to the beach; A VERY friendly and helpful staff.

2. My fiance loved the room at Solamar compared our room in Huntington Beach (non-Kimpton hotel, but in the same class), he felt like the design was better, and he even mentioned that the grout was clean in the Solamar bathroom vs HB.

3. Arrived on Labor Day (national holiday apparently?) the day after our wedding and after two flight totally 13hrs and needless to say shattered at around 5pm only to find our room wasn't ready and we would have to wait 10-15mins for it to be ready, that then turned into 30mins and got told we could relax by the pool and they would let us know when it was ready, headed to the pool which was pumping music like a beach party, no problem as we were just happy to find a seat, 45mins later we headed back down and then got told that he by the same receptionist that it would be would only another 15mins as he had been dealing with something else, finally at just after 6 we got our room throughout the saga, we were almost made to feel like we were to blame.

4. If you're looking for family/beaches you better off in the mission bay area or be prepared to hop in the car.
