2. To summarize, I would definitely not recommend the 2 bed presidential suite @$500/ night, but if you need to stay in the area for a couple of days for business (thereby having to wake up early anyways), a standard room here at a much decent price could do.

3. Watch the rates before your stay, we were able to get a very good price by switching to a prepaid rate (but be aware you cannot cancel so you are committed to paying).

4. The Marriott is a little newer but is expensive during the week (great prices on the weekends, though).

5. Two restaurants I would recommend: Point Loma Seafoods on the waterfront had fresh seafood and very reasonable prices as noted by Rachel Ray on one of her shows.
