1. BALBOA PARK INN is a restored guest house from the early part of the last century, now comprising 26 unique, differently appointed and themed suites - all affording the best in value, comfort, convenience and originality - and the food ain't half-bad either.

5. Towels were plentiful and there was a mini frig, microwave and all the necessary items for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. We were impressed with the amount of food for breakfast - huge amount of pastries and fruit.

7. The hotel location is a short 5-10 minute walk from the entrance to the Zoo, but the walk to restaurants and food shopping is a little farther (10-15 minutes).

8. The kitchen was nice to have -- we got dinner from the local Whole Foods in Hillcrest a couple of nights we were there, and the kitchen has all the basics you need (including a corkscrew!).
