5. On the plus side the rooms were clean and quiet - kudos to housekeeping; the fitness center was well stocked with cardio and weights compared with most other hotels; and the location was great - right beside the conference center and 2 blocks from the Alamo.

7. service was hit or miss depending on who you encountered: housekeep was great, bellboys very helpful and speedy, bar waitresses disappeared altogether, and concierge was a little snippy.
