2. I contacted the Charlesmark directly and made a reservation, which was confirmed promptly by e-mail and gave directions to the municipal parking lot where they`ve arranged a $20 discounted rate, much better than the Prudential Center`s $36 a night.

4. The stay was booked a few months ago, just before the credit crisis was in full blown mode, so at the time I thought my successful bartering of a $15 discount on a queen room was a coup.
