2. The location is convenient for downtown excursions (located only a short walk to the BART Civic Center stop and to the Market Street Cable Car stop) albeit in an area frequented by panhandlers, shady characters, and homeless.

4. The only down-side here is that the hotel is a couple of blocks away from a pretty run-down little stretch, but it's close to down-town, easy to catch a cab from, and tell you what -- anywhere with access to downtown will have some "city" life to deal with.
