1. Uncle Vitos pizza right next door is recommended, and for a bar that looks like a dive outside but is NOT a dive, go to the Tunnel Top one block down the hill at the Stockton Tunnel for regular prices and more locals than tourists.

2. When they serve their own wine, it's sort of like open bar (maybe not supposed to be), you can have several glasses if you so choose - when they bring in a guest vintner from say Napa Valley, you might get only a taste, but it could be a 50 dollar bottle of wine that youre tasting.

3. There is a great little hole in the wall bar called Chealsey's right across the street, much more reasonable than alot of places to go and have a beer and a wonderful mexican place around the corner and it is right next to a cable car stop.

4. The lobby is very nice with a fireplace and lots of places to sit, and the little wine bar in the evening is a nice touch.

5. It's close to everything Union Square and the neighbouring BART, there is a great bar nearby called Cantina that makes a great ginger cocktail called the Flying Buddha, if you want a free hot dog with your beer visit the White Horse on Sutter, and for terrible and overpriced Japanese food you're welcome to visit Maru Sushi on Powell St.

9. We had two rooms; one room bathtub didn't drain when taking a shower, hair dryer broken, half eaten candy bar in the minibar, room not too clean.
