It has its draw backs -- loud street noise at night, limited wifi access and smaller rooms but it's a close Cable Car Ride to Fisherman's Wharf and lots of tourist attractions -- Alcatraz, Pier 39 with the SeaLions, bike tours, etc. Really, half the fun for our kids was getting to everything via the Cable Car and/or BART.
