The neighborhood is going downhill a little - and the hotel is right on the edge of where the druggies and the homeless people congregate (listen, I do do do feel very sorry for the homeless and the schizophrenics; but I was awoken multiple times a night with wild screams and laughter and fights).

3. The 'front' door (on Cyril Magnin Street) does lead out to a seedier neighborhood but the back door leads right out on to Powell Street.

4. The access password is so easy to find out so that I think that the complete neighborhood logs in and the guests have no chance to get an access.

5. Something very attractive about this hotel is that it is very centric and somehow isolated from that feelling of being in a dangerous neighborhood as I read in many reviews from hotels just a few blocks away.
