1. Although it is somewhat on the edge where you need to be careful in which direction you walk at night it is no different in that respect from the Hilton one block north and at a much cheaper rate.

2. it IS within walking distance of many things, and it was perfect for our needs (being so close to the parade route) but it is right on the edge of the Tenderloin district which is a very seedy part of SF.
