1. Even though the hotel is on the edge of a less desirable area of the city, we had no problems with street people.

2. Main drawback is is not so much location (about a block and a half from real trouble but great for many SF attractions) as just the street noise.

3. And yes like several other people suggested, stay away from the side street- the Eddy Street liquor store has some real chatty characters hanging around most of the day and evening, but they seem only interested in talking to each other.

6. The hotel shows films free in their petite cinema every eveningI didn't notice any noise from the street as my room wasn't on that side of the hotel.

7. The location is literally a block or two from the heart of it all but unfortunetley is also right next to a very sketchy area on a street called Eddy.

8. You don't go to SanFran to spend most if your time in a hotel room so this hotel is quaint and only a block away from Powell where you can get the street car and also close to tons of shopping.

9. I would recommend this for the young and adventurous with some street savy and a budget but perhaps not to more conservative and narrow-minded individuals who don't get out much.
