1. The Milburn is very comfortable in an unfancy way (the rooms are like small city apartments with average furniture), well located (unless downtown is your focus), and--a big plus--the staff is great (extremely courteous, very helpful) and several have been there for years.

2. This hotel is not in the heart and hub bub of downtown so you do actually feel comfortable wandering around at any hour to the 24 hour grocery store around the corner.

4. I've stayed down in mid-town and downtown and I have to say the surrounding neighborhoods in the Upper West Side are not only safer but everyone is friendlier and much more helpful.

6. You can walk to downtown - it took me 20 mins to get to 58th street and you are a couple of long blocks from Central Park.

9. Finally, if I was just with my wife, I would have stayed more luxuriously than the Milburn and if we wanted to see/do things downtown with kids, I would have chosen the Embassy Suites.
