1. We shopped at the local grocery store (make sure to sign up for a savings card - which is free - to save even more money) which also had a $1/night DVD rental we used one night when we just felt like relaxing inside.

I don't know what else I could say about this wonderful condo-resort other than, since everything in Hawaii seems to be around 20-50% more expensive than anywhere else in the US, staying in a place with a full kitchen is an excellent way to save some money (purchasing groceries VS eating out every meal).

8. It's good value for money and offers relatively easy access to all the major sights on the island such as spending the day travelling to Hana or driving up the windy road to spectacular vistas at the top of Haleakala volcano.
