4. Not much nearby in downtown Detroit, and the neighborhood is not safe, so your dining options are very limited; prices for breakfast in the hotel were completely outrageous.

Normally I would understand the need to keep business inside, but I'd already tried wandering the neighborhood and could barely find a convenience store (with a police patrol and a clerk behind bulletproof glass) let alone somewhere to eat, as the Coney Island across the street was closed for a private function.
