3. There are certainly plenty of hotels in the neighborhood -- Baltimore's somewhat seedy and downtrodden business district though it's an easy walk to the Inner Harbor -- but I'd stayed at a couple of Hotel Monacos in San Francisco and Salt Lake City so thought I'd give it a try.

5. I should also note that the neighborhood is less than interesting - no restaurants close by, a lot of random people hanging out on the street and the only business or service open after 8 PM is the FedEx office.

9. I prefer the new Harbor East neighborhood overall, but you'd be hardpressed to find a better hotel in Baltimore, especially if you can get a good rate.

10. The hotel neighborhood is a little shady at night, so just use caution, but please don't let it deter you from staying at this gorgeous hotel.
