When you are on vacation, even if you book through the discounted sites, read the reviews on that hotel first, and if you see LOADS of people complaining - call the site you booked from and speak to a manager/supervisor and tell them you do not want that hotel because of the HORRIBLE reviews on the hotel.

6. When I finally got to talk to the manager Miguel he told me that even though someone at his hotel had promised to cancel the charge, he was not going to do it because it had been a busy weekend for them.

7. Our booking had been made in September after viewing the hotel on the web and discussing and agreeing on the rooms and rates with the manager who confirmed this in writing.

8. So, ok not so good so far, but worse was to come when the general manager who had originally taken our booking, informed us that for the last night of our stay the rate for the Penthouse Suite was being increased by over 100% as we were moving into 'High Season'.

9. The General Manager of the property , after apologies for an outrageous situation at our expense (which was humiliating and unnecessary) didn't even bother to follow up.
