4. The beach directly in front of the Outrigger was often crowded but Wakiki Beach is so big and with the Waikiki Walkway just a few steps outside the hotel's beachfront entrance there was very little trouble finding a good spot.

5. The convenience of being beachfront was great as we were an extended family of 8 some chose to play at the beach and others stayed by the pool or walked around the stores.

6. +ve points - actually on the beach (surprisingly hard to find in Waikiki- poolside drinks / food only $5 in happy hour (3-5pm i think)- rooms are pretty good- breakfast at beachfront restaurant was excellent-ve points - pool is in a canyon between two 20 story buildings, meaning sun only hits about half the pool at a time- service at the pool is poor- beach is very narrow and no free chairs providedI don't think this is a bad hotel, but I certainly don't think it is anything like as good as it is currently reviewed as being.

9. I am not sure how the Outrigger Reef on the Beach has been able to maintain its #2 ranking on TripAdvisor, other than the fact that among beachfront properties in Waikiki it is moderately priced and family friendly.
