3. In fact, there was construction on New York Ave that shut down the side walk to the train station, the detour the hotel gave us sent us through a very interesting section of town (if I wasn't walking with 2 gentlemen I would never have walked down that street, even in broad daylight).

6. I only saw 1 homeless man in that stretch of streets in my 4 days and didn't feel threatened by him.

7. Yes, there are some street people, but to be honest, I saw more in DuPont Circle which is a very nice neighborhood.
