4. On the return, I called ahead and made my reservation for pickup (within 24 hours as they recommend), but they must have lost it or something because they didn`t show up and I had to call and ask them where they were (fortunately a shuttle was close and came to get me right away).

6. If you are flying in and not renting a car, you can take an airport shuttle, but if you want to get to your downtown hotel quickly - although it is very reasonable, I don't recommend you take the shuttle.
