1. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because it had a pool, but when I arrived and asked about the pool, they said it had just had chemicals added and wouldn't be ready till the next day.

The rooms are small, plain and ugly (horrible green curtains, 70s oak furniture, a tube TV with basic cable, tired but clean bathroom), yet for the price (around $60/night) you get a reasonable bed, clean linens, free parking, free wifi, a fridge and microwave plus complimentary breakfast (cereal, bagels, pound cake, coffee, juice).

7. It may not look very fancy on the outside, but the University Inn in Eugene is a great place to stay, and very reasonably priced.

9. Several reasonable restraunts are within walking distance but be prepared to walk for a while or drive to really get some diversity in your meals.
