1. But I'd be far happier if they would tone down the attitude, and even happier if the prices were better.

2. On top of all this, the standard rates at the Palomar are in the same range as much nicer and more traditional hotels -- Hiltons, Sheratons, even the Intercontinental -- and there seem to be better discount/promotional rates at the other hotels.

4. The beds were very good and the toiletries provided luxurious, but why no shower cap, and why does one have to ask for makeup mirror in a pricey room? I have had a better TV screen in a much less pretentious hotel.

5. There is nothing better than relaxing in the lounge after a busy day and enjoying the decor, yummy hors d'oeuvres and a tasty beverage while unwinding.

9. I was dismayed to discover that the shower head flopped around and in obvious need of repair, not to mention dismal water pressure the first day we were there (better the second day).
