6. The TV didn't work, the subway appeared to run under the hotel (at first I thought it was a rock band practicing), couldn't get the shower to work (scalded my hand) - would have checked out straight away but my friend would have been upset and she couldn't afford to move.

7. After searching for weeks for a hotel I could afford for my first trip to the city, I had all but given up when I came across the Astor for only $55 dollars a night.
