1. You can't find a better location for doing touristy things, but the hotel, being old, has odd sloping floors and small rooms.

5. For a boutique hotel, I expected it to be a bit less tired looking, and for a Penthouse Suite, I expected a better room, and a nicer terrace.

6. Even better, I was on 2nd floor, facing the main street (apparently that was the only room available), I was lulled to sleep by the noise of yelling pedestrians and street musicians, and woken at 5 am by the sound of garbage trucks.

7. Also be aware that if confrontational homeless people make you nervous/upset you, then this is not the place for you and you would be better down by Fishermans Wharf.

9. This was FAR better than taking a room on the 'courtyard' side, as the courtyard is a narrow (<40 feet) opening in the building that only gives a view to the bland walls of the other side.
