5. Who really cares about the decor all that much when the real advantage of this hotel is its location, Pier 39 and boat tours, etc are just blocks from the front door - while 7 or 8 blocks (easy walk, but up hill) is the charming neighborhood of Little Italy.

7. Mini-fridge in room (stocked with pay as you go items) but the staff invited us to remove those and use as we see fit, careful to instruct us to leave their items 'in plain view' so we wouldn't accidentally be charged for things we didn't consume.

8. The actual bellhop who was to take care of this first offered us a limousine sitting out front for which we would have paid $20 to go to the ferry building - not far at all.
