3. I think it's really hard for a hotel to get staffing right--great hotels find folks who will be 'at attention' to meet a guest's need, but the best hotels find people who can do that while still maintaining an easy, friendly vibe.

4. The staff REALLY set this hotel above the rest--reception (check in/check out) was an uncomplicated breeze, the conceierge was helpful, the bellman seemed like someone I could be friends with and the pool-side bartender was the perfect blend of low-key attentiveness.

5. It seems like the success of the hotel design was based on paying attention to the small details and it is still a good value but it could slip if the owners do not pay attention to the details again.
