4. let me say that I would no more recommend downtown Detroit and the 'RenCen' to someone visiting Detroit, than I would recommend downtown Los Angeles to a traveler in my hometown of Los Angeles -- due to the SAME problems: downtown's lack of amenities and severe isolation from the coneveniences that more populated outlying neighborhoods provide.
