1. I requested a quiet room in the back so the street noise wouldn't bother us.

2. noise level is low, although I was not facing the street (my view was of a small, walled-in courtyard, which was very quiet) which may be loud with the trolley and traffic among other things.

9. Yes you can often hear the city outside, including the cable car bells over on Powell, but it's a cool noise, and as I say sleeping is easy.
