1. The downside to this is that I'm pretty allergic to wood smoke and the room had a lingering smell from the fireplace, but that's to be expected with a woodburning fireplace in the room.

2. Each time we took a trolly or bus to get to points of interest, you had to run the gauntlet of people smoking crack on the sidewalk, the homeless asleep on the sidewalk, panhandlers and the smell of urine wafting out of the doorways of beer-joint dives that reeked of pee and Pine-Sol.
