1. We got to our room and I almost called down to the front desk to say that we had been given the wrong room.

2. The staff were great - the concierge had sent the information I had requested to a wrong email address and I didn't get it - he though made up for it with a bottle of wine and some fruit in our room.

As it stands today,the hotel itself feels very dated (room decor more confusing than comfortable), the service was mediocre (valet brought around the wrong car, concierge completely ignored our request for help locating a restaurant) and they were missing on those small details that make for a great hotel experience (the in-room digital alarm clock went off at 6.

6. Here's what went wrong for us: Called before we left to request 'as high a room as possible' and as much square footage as the rate would reasonably afford, since we were travelling with a teen.

8. We stayed in a spa suite hotel room at the Alexis, and don't get me wrong the room was very nice, I just would've appreciated more of a view.
