I don't believe the extended traveler should be gouged on laundry, nor should they have to schlepp their dirty clothes to a laundromat (in this case the closest one was 2 miles away) and I don't believe it's entirely beyond the realm of space considerations to place a coin-operated laundry facility on hotel premises.

2. I often udge the quality of the hotel by whether my clorox travel wipes get dirty when I re-wipe things like the remote control, phone, nobs/handles, etc.
